Customized Briefing for Dr. Jarir Nakouzi

New Spanish-language brochure explains warfarin treatment and its possible complications.

HealthDay (12/29, McKeever) reported that the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has published a new 13-page pamphlet "to help Spanish-speaking patients understand what to expect and watch for while taking the blood thinner warfarin." The brochure, called Su guía para el tratamiento con Coumadin/warfarina (Your Guide to Coumadin/Warfarin Therapy), details "the medication's potentially dangerous side effects" and "suggests how patients can best discuss the therapy with their healthcare provider." In addition, "it offers tips on lifestyle modification," reminding patients "of the need to keep a consistent diet and to tell their doctors about all other medications and supplements they're taking to avoid troublesome interactions."
